Exploring trans lives and movements, the authors delve into the experience of surviving as transgender under capitalism. They explore the pressures, oppression and state persecution faced by trans people living in capitalist societies, their tenuous positions in the workplace and the home, and give a powerful response to right-wing scaremongering against “gender ideology'.” Chapters include: *Trans Work: Employment Trajectories, Labour Discipline and Gender Freedom by Michelle O'Brien *Judith Butler's Scientific Revolution: Foundations for a Transsexual Marxism by Rosa Lee *How Do Gender Transitions Happen? By Jules Joanne Gleeson *A Queer Marxist Transfeminism: Queer and Trans Social Reproduction by Nat Raha *The Bridge between Gender and Organizing by Farah Thompson *Transgender and Disabled Bodies - Between Pain and the Imaginary by Zoe Belinsky *Seizing the Means: Towards a Trans Epistemology by Nathaniel Dickson *”Why Are We Like This?” The Primacy of Transsexuality by Xandra Metcalfe *Cosmos Against Nature in the Class Struggle of Proletarian Trans Women by Anja Heisler Weiser Flower *Afterword: One Utopia, One Dystopia by Jordy Rosenberg Reflecting on the relations between gender and labor, these essays reveal the structure of antagonisms faced by gender non-conforming people within society. Looking at the history of transgender movements, Marxist interventions into developmental theory, psychoanalysis and workplace ethnography, the authors conclude that for trans liberation, capitalism must be abolished.","forthcoming":false,"isbn13":"9780745341668","publication_date":"20210520","publisher":"Pluto Press","slug":"transgender-marxism","subtitle":"","title":"Transgender Marxism"},"discovery":{"categories":{"all":[{"bisac_code":"SOC064020","confidence_band":"high","label":"Transgender Studies","score":0.8159,"source":"bisac_hint_model"},{"bisac_code":"SOC064010","confidence_band":"medium","label":"Bisexual Studies","score":0.7714,"source":"bisac_hint_model"},{"bisac_code":"SOC064030","confidence_band":"medium","label":"LGBTQ+ Studies / Nonbinary & Genderqueer Studies","score":0.7266,"source":"bisac_hint_model"}],"hint":[{"bisac_code":"SOC064020","confidence_band":"high","label":"Transgender Studies","score":0.8159,"source":"bisac_hint_model"},{"bisac_code":"SOC064010","confidence_band":"medium","label":"Bisexual Studies","score":0.7714,"source":"bisac_hint_model"},{"bisac_code":"SOC064030","confidence_band":"medium","label":"LGBTQ+ Studies / Nonbinary & Genderqueer Studies","score":0.7266,"source":"bisac_hint_model"}],"publisher":[{"bisac_code":"POL005000","confidence_band":"high","label":"Communism & Socialism","score":1,"source":"onix_publisher_code"},{"bisac_code":"POL010000","confidence_band":"high","label":"Political History & Ideas","score":1,"source":"onix_publisher_code"},{"bisac_code":"POL035010","confidence_band":"high","label":"Human Rights","score":1,"source":"onix_publisher_code"},{"bisac_code":"SOC032000","confidence_band":"high","label":"Gender Studies","score":1,"source":"onix_publisher_code"},{"bisac_code":"SOC064010","confidence_band":"high","label":"Bisexual Studies","score":1,"source":"onix_publisher_code"},{"bisac_code":"SOC064020","confidence_band":"high","label":"Transgender Studies","score":1,"source":"onix_publisher_code"}]},"genres":[{"label":"Transgender Studies","score":0.8159,"slug":"transgender-studies"},{"label":"Bisexual Studies","score":0.7714,"slug":"bisexual-studies"},{"label":"LGBTQ+ Studies","score":0.7266,"slug":"lgbtq-studies"}],"reader_fit":["Good for readers interested in transgender studies and Marxist theory"],"related_lists":[],"series":null,"similar_books":[{"authors":["Emma Heaney"],"book_id":"9781478030454","cover_image_url":"https://img.bookfrontier.com/9781478030454.jpg?v=d6e8eff90cae12bd","score":0.7522,"title":"Feminism Against Cisness","url":"https://bookfrontier.com/books/9781478030454"},{"authors":["Lee Harrington"],"book_id":"9781942733812","cover_image_url":"https://img.bookfrontier.com/9781942733812.jpg?v=03647d885483e0c5","score":0.7516,"title":"Traversing Gender","url":"https://bookfrontier.com/books/9781942733812"},{"authors":["Nat Raha","Mijke van der Drift"],"book_id":"9780745349404","cover_image_url":"https://img.bookfrontier.com/9780745349404.jpg?v=2d5a58428ab754f1","score":0.733,"title":"Trans Femme Futures","url":"https://bookfrontier.com/books/9780745349404"},{"authors":["Marquis Bey"],"book_id":"9781478017813","cover_image_url":"https://img.bookfrontier.com/9781478017813.jpg?v=c1e41017d55a46e3","score":0.7305,"title":"Black Trans Feminism","url":"https://bookfrontier.com/books/9781478017813"},{"authors":["Florence Ashley"],"book_id":"9781955904933","cover_image_url":"https://img.bookfrontier.com/9781955904933.jpg?v=37e3404ac505ba5e","score":0.7296,"title":"Gender/fucking: the Pleasures and Politics of Living in a Gendered Body","url":"https://bookfrontier.com/books/9781955904933"},{"authors":["Jules Gill-Peterson"],"book_id":"9781804291603","cover_image_url":"https://img.bookfrontier.com/9781804291603.jpg?v=40c9cdb073221860","score":0.724,"title":"A Short History of Trans Misogyny","url":"https://bookfrontier.com/books/9781804291603"},{"authors":["J.
